Disconnected Youth

In America, an estimated 2.3 million to 5.2 million young people between the ages of 14 and 24 are not enrolled in school, not working, and lack family or other support networks. These young people often fall through the gaps between the education system, child welfare system, juvenile justice system, and employment system. First Focus supports strengthening strategies and programs that find and reconnect these vulnerable youth to community support systems that can help put them back on track toward a successful adulthood.
