American Recovery and Investment Act

Early in 2009, Congress passed and President Obama signed the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) with the aim of providing an immediate boost to the national economy through increased government spending and widespread tax reductions. About two dozen of the federal programs that benefit children will receive increased resources over the next several years due to ARRA. Within the $787 billion ARRA package, almost $144 billion will be dispersed to programs affecting children.
