Kevin Lindsey is the Director of Policy and Research at First Focus, where he works closely with the policy team to provide research, writing and advocacy support. Prior to joining First Focus, Kevin taught English at a high school in Tongliao, China, a small city north of Beijing, where he also ran an English Club for students.
Kevin graduated magna cum laude from Providence College with a bachelor's degree in political science. While at Providence, he worked as a research assistant in the Political Science Department, providing research and editing support for faculty and students. Prior to this, Kevin was a community organizer with Clean Water Action in Providence, RI, organizing community political action around environmental issues, including efforts to decrease children’s exposure to air-borne pollutants and to ban BPA in baby bottles. He also served as an intern at Common Cause Rhode Island, a good-government nonprofit, and for the Rhode Island House Committee on Education, where he researched state responses to No Child Left Behind to prepare Rhode Island for upcoming performance deadlines. Additionally, Kevin was vice president of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society, and has experience working with refugees and as an adult ESL teacher in Providence.
