The growth of the immigrant population has significant implications for all public systems serving children and families, including the child welfare system. First Focus is dedicated to improving policy and practice within the child welfare system to better serve children of immigrants and their families. First Focus is working to identify solutions to improve outcomes for children and families caught in the intersection of child welfare, immigration, criminal justice, and international policies. This includes protecting the rights of undocumented children in the child welfare system, unaccompanied minors, and children who enter the child welfare system as a result of a parent’s apprehension for immigration reasons.
