First Focus Polling Indicates Overwhelming Support for Covering All Children

New First Focus/Fabrizio McLaughlin & Associates Poll Shows Republican Voters want a Strong Children’s Health Bill

First Focus has released nationwide polling data confirming strong support for children’s health coverage legislation among Republican voters. The poll, conducted by Republican polling firm Fabrizio McLaughlin & Associates, found that by 62-31% -- a 2-to-1 margin of support -- Republican voters support Congressional passage of a bill that would extend and strengthen the popular State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).  In addition, the poll found that by a 4-to-3 margin Republican voters are less likely to vote to reelect their Members of Congress if they oppose the legislation.

    First Focus/Luntz, Maslansky Poll Indicates Overwhelming National Support for Covering All Children


    A nationwide poll released by First Focus indicates extraordinary support for providing health coverage to all children.  According to the poll, 90% of Americans believe that every child in America has a right to basic healthcare, with 83% of Americans support renewing the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) before the legislation expires in September.  In addition, a ratio of 66 -17% of Americans are less likely to vote for their Senator or Congressman in the next election if they did not support legislation aimed specifically at reducing the number of uninsured children in America.

    The poll was conducted by the renowned GOP pollster Frank Luntz and his firm Luntz, Maslansky Strategic Research.
