The recent Census data release revealed that more than one in five American children was living in poverty in 2009 – a figure that will likely be even higher in 2010. Our partners at the Half in Ten campaign and the Coalition on Human Needs hosted a webcast last week featuring elected officials, policy experts, service providers, and families who spoke about the effect of poverty in their local areas, as well action steps that can be taken by individuals to help reverse the trend of increasing poverty across the country.
