The Senate Appropriations Committee has passed a Fiscal Year 2012 Labor, HHS, Ed funding bill, while the House has released a draft bill. In assessing both bills for the total amount of funding for children, overall, the Senate bill provides $295 million more in funding for kids than the House bill. Though both bills provide a nominal increase from fiscal year 2011 levels, after adjusting for inflation, the Senate bill is actually a $586 million or 1% cut and the House bill is a $876 million or 1.5% cut.
