Beginning on August 15th, eligible young people will be able to apply for deferred action for childhood arrivals as announced by the Department of Homeland Security on June 15, 2012. Deferred action for childhood arrivals is a form of administrative relief that provides protection from deportation and an opportunity to receive employment authorization for a period of two years, which is then renewable. This fact sheet outlines the basic guidelines for applying through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).
