Washington – A new survey released today by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) confirms that more than nine in ten (93 percent) parents of children covered through Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are very or somewhat satisfied with their coverage. The same survey found that 70 percent of parents reported affordability was a strong motivating factor in covering their children through Medicaid or CHIP. In response, Bruce Lesley, President of First Focus, issued the following statement.

“Today’s report proves what parents all over America already know – that Medicaid and CHIP deliver the high-quality, affordable health coverage kids need. It also shows that, even as a tough economy has cost families their health insurance along with their jobs, providing affordable care cost-effectively through CHIP and Medicaid means kids don’t have to become uninsured. This report should be a reminder to lawmakers that arbitrary cuts to Medicaid and CHIP are not the answer when it comes to securing America’s future.”
