More than 8 million children have been impacted by the nation’s foreclosure crisis, says a new report by the Brookings Institution and First Focus, a children’s advocacy organization. A million of those are in California, it says.

“Children are the often invisible victims of the foreclosure crisis,” says Julia Isaacs of the Brookings Institution and author of the report. “Foreclosure affects not just the homeowner or landlord, but also the children living in the foreclosed properties.”
